For every $10 in donations, Bono keeps $1 as a service fee (this is much lower than the industry average, and is better for the charities, not just for our donors). The service fee enables Bono to go to work for our donors - vetting and adding new charities, sending impact updates, building the Bono service and providing donors with a yearly single tax-deductible donation receipt.
Any fees paid to creators are paid directly from these above fees and are not taken from the donation amount allocated to charities.
The full 100% of user donations are included in a single yearly tax-deductible donation receipt provided by Bono. Donations are processed by the Bono Way Charitable Foundation which has received a 501(c)(3) tax exemption from the IRS.
Bono works with the most trusted legal and financial firms in the U.S. so that you can rest assured that you feel comfortable giving through us.
On the financial side, we work with JPMorgan Chase as our bank, Moss Adams for tax advisory and Ernst & Young as our controller.
On the legal side, we’re represented by Sidley (Sidley Austin LLP) and Adler & Colvin for the Bono Foundation.
On the technical and processing side, we secure and process our transactions and funds through Stripe.
All your funds are transferred directly through the Bono Way Charitable Foundation, which is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. If you are a U.S. taxpayer, Bono will issue you a receipt indicating that your contribution is fully tax deductible.
Bono works closely with foundations, philanthropists, creators and other professionals to suggest charities. We also have our own Impact team of experts who meticulously hand-picked the charities that are shown to make the most significant impact. With hundreds of worthy initiatives out there, our dedicated team continually updates our charity list to ensure a diverse range of organizations benefit from Bono. Our goal is to strike a balance between supporting established, well-known charities and championing smaller ones that, despite their impactful work, might not have the resources or marketing budget to gain widespread attention.
The Bono Way Charitable Foundation is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. If you are a U.S. taxpayer, the Bono Way Charitable Foundation will issue you a receipt at the end of the tax year indicating that your contribution is fully tax deductible.
The Bono Way Inc is a for-profit company, that provides the tech platform for the Bono Foundation, through a licensing agreement.
The Bono model is like other affiliate programs you may already work with, except that we allow you to do some good while you’re at it.
For every user that donates using your affiliate link, Bono will share 50% of the service fee with you over a 12 month period starting from the date they sign up. For example, if $1,000 is donated through your affiliate link, you would earn $50. Once a month, Bono pays you a commission based on the previous 30 days of activity. you can choose to keep the earnings and use them to create even more social engaging content, or donate the earnings back through Bono. For the full details and legal terms, please refer to the Creators Terms.
Yes! Bono research shows that creators can see a 20%-100% increase in engagement when sharing social issues causes, especially when these posts become a regular part of your content calendar.
Bono is the easiest way to make a real difference, together with your community of followers. That’s already a huge pay off!
In addition to doing good, showing you care gives you the opportunity to:
- Boost your brand: you’re more than just likes and shares, you actually want to make a difference.
- Increase engagement: people connect with passion, and they’ll show it.
- Broaden your audience: attract a new audience who cares about these causes as much as you do.
- Increase earnings: Bono splits our earnings with creators, while still being the cheapest way for charities to raise money. It’s that simple!
The impact quantification indicators we use take into account industry benchmarks, information gathered from top charities and market cost. Please note that these indicators are for illustration purposes only. For specific details about the impact of your donation, please visit the charity’s annual report.
Bono is a way to create long lasting impact and allows you to make “making a difference” be a regular part of your content calendar in the easiest way possible. We let you, the creator, engage with your community on a long term basis and not just part of a one-off fundraising campaign. With Bono, the donations your followers make to the causes that matter to you the most are not just $ signs but are translated directly and on a regular basis to actual impact. Both you, the creator, and your followers, the donors, receive regular updates on the immense change you’re making for the causes that matter to you the most. Bono also helps you create engaging content for your causes which you can share with your followers.
Yes. You can select the option to donate your earnings back to a cause of your choice through Bono when it comes time to set up how you would like to receive your payment. You can change this option at anytime. And don't forget, you will also receive the benefit of a tax receipt if you choose to donate your earnings.
That's great that you are ready to get the ball rolling, and we are too! You can schedule a meeting directly through our Calendly link or email stav@bono.so.
As much as we love Bono, he’s not part of this initiative. Our name is inspired by “Pro-Bono” which means “doing good for everyone” in Latin.
